Enterprise Search Summit 2007In September the Enterprise Search Summit West will take place in San José for the second time. Its focus will be on developing, implementing and enhancing innovative internal search capabilities. FASTforward '08 in Orlando

FASTForward 2008 Mid February FAST will stage the third FASTforward conference focussing on enterprise search and, of course, FAST's technology platform and product portfolio. Last year, over 1,000 people attended the event in San Diego and, as enterprise search is taking off as mission critical application, even more this year.

FASTforward '07 in San Diego

FASTForward 2007 Early February FAST will stage the second FASTforward conference focussing on enterprise search and, of course, FAST's technology platform and product portfolio. Last year, over 500 people attended the event in Miami. FAST expects to almost douple the number of participants this year in San Diego.

Enterprise Search Summit 2005 in New York

The middle of May will be the second time New York sees the Enterprise Search Summit. The summit can be counted among the most important events about enterprise search this year. Almost all leading enterprise search vendors will demonstrate their products, but the real focus is on sharing practical experience gained in real projects.

The program touches selection, implementation and maintenance of search platforms. Additionally, it will cover aspects like taxonomies, meta data and e-commerce search.

Valentin Richter, CEO of Raytion, will speak at the summit about issues and practices when selecting search software in a presentation called "Selecting Search Software: Key Issues and Comparisons" and be available for further discussion on the Expert Panel in the afternoon on Tuesday.

Vivisimo announces new version of Velocity

Vivisimo plans to ship version 4.2 of Velocity by the middle of May. New or improved functionality will include the indexing of secure content, setup of topic-specific alerts via e-mail, and the ability to e-mail search results or store them for later review. Additionally, the reporting capabilities will be enhanced.

In October 2004 Vivisimo introduced Velocity as an enterprise search platform. Velocity's special features include the dynamic clustering of search results, integration of external search results via meta search capabilities, and a comprehensive browser-based administration interface.

Verity releases Ultraseek 5.3.4

Version 5.2.4 of Ultraseek removes several smaller bugs. Additionally, performance was increased for multi-processor systems running Sun Solaris.

Google releases version 1.0 of Google Desktop Search

After a public beta phase Google has released version 1.0 of Google Desktop Search. Google Desktop Search has a documented API and a Software Development Kit is available, which in principle make the integration with an enterprise search platform possible. It will be interesting to watch, if and how Google will support endeavours in this direction.
