Rays at the B2Run Event

Last Tuesday our Rays did their best as a team called “Die Rays” (“The Rays”) and were very successful as we all managed the challenge. We had to accomplish a route of 6,2 km (4 miles), which was located at the Merkur Spiel-Arena Düsseldorf. It was a lot of fun, a great atmosphere, team building and good for health.

Some Facts About the Run

We met at the Merkur Spiel-Arena at about 6pm and were ready to join the game.

At 7 pm, our Rays started running together in the last batch of around 11,000 participants from 320 different companies from Düsseldorf – a huge amount of people and the atmosphere was fantastic, with music playing all around and cheering viewers. And even the Düsseldorf Mayer, Oberbürgermeister Dr. Stephan Keller, was there to inaugurate the run.

The organizers divided participants into 6 main groups, the last one being the walkers, including some of our Rays and started at 7 15 pm. After an amazing run, where everyone had their own pace, they got their time stamp automatically, received a certificate and a participation medal.

The Route

The route started in the Merkur Spiel-Arena, was beautifully set along the Rhine for the first 3 kilometers, where drummers cheered the people on. Then it took a turn at the end of the 3rd km, where participants could have a little water, then the route went through the forest and fields for the 4th and 5th kilometer and finished in the Merkur Spiel-Arena again.

In the end, participants were provided with some fruits, food and drinks and could relax, take pictures and enjoy the great atmosphere. You could even feel a little like a real athlete, since the final spurt went right through the arena itself. All we can say is that we are proud of ourselves, tired but very happy. Looking forward for next year!
